GRD2ESRI

Purpose:

The module GRD2ESRI is used to translate SURFER grid files into a format readable by ArcView Spatial Analyst. This permits further analysis of the modelling results under ArcView.

Data requirements:

Any type of SURFER grid files (ASCII, binary or Surfer 7).

Required user inputs:

1. Path of grid files.

The values set in the module DB2GRD are automatically carried over. However, the user can specify any directory.

2. Files to convert. The files can be specified using wildcards * and/or ?.

The specification of the directory for system data, although visible, is not relevant for this module.

User settings are not stored in the file runoff.ini in the Windows directory.

The process is started by pressing the button "Start Conversion" and can not be interrupted.

The names of already converted grid files are listed in a window. Once the process is completed, the text FINISHED!! is shown in the same window.

Module output:

ESRI grid files in ASCII-format *.asc , which can be concerted by ArcView Spatial Analyst into ESRI grid coverages. The files are stored in the same directory as the input SURFER grid files.
