The spatial definition of climatic zones grid (CZ) are based on a simplification of the Agro-Climatic Zones (ACZ).
The idea behind is, that in more humid areas, soil are better developed than in more arid areas. However, instead of the 12 different ACZ currently only 5 different climatic zones are distinguished.
| Class | Value | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1.1 | RIFT VALLEY |
| 2 | 1.5 | MOUNTAINS |
| 3 | 0.9 | HIGHLANDS |
| 4 | 0.8 | SEMI-DESERT |
| 5 | 0.7 | DESERT |
The grid just stores the class as cell-value in file czgrd.grd which has originally been constructed from the GIS shapefile ACZ.shp. The above shown value (= correction factors for S-values) can be edited in the model builder interface.
The assignment of ACZ to climate zones is as follows:
| ZONE | NAME | ZONE_NAME | C_ZONE |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | NORTHERN JORDAN VALLEY | RIFT VALLEY | 1 |
| 2 | SOUTHERN JORDAN VALLEY | RIFT VALLEY | 1 |
| 3 | SOUTHERN GHORS | RIFT VALLEY | 1 |
| 4 | NORTHERN HIGHLANDS (KUFRANJA AREA) | HIGHLANDS | 2 |
| 5 | NORTHERN HIGHLANDS (JARASH AREA) | HIGHLANDS | 2 |
| 6 | NORTHERN HIGHLANDS (WADI ES SEER AREA) | HIGHLANDS | 2 |
| 7 | NORTHERN HIGHLANDS (ZARQA AREA) | HIGHLANDS | 3 |
| 8 | SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS | HIGHLANDS | 3 |
| 9 | SOUTHERN MOUNTAINS | HIGHLANDS | 2 |
| 10 | WESTERN DESERT | SEMI-DESERT | 4 |
