Hint for exporting basemaps from Surfer to ArcView.
Surfer from Golden Software including version 6.x only permitted the export of vector graphics in DXF format and not in SHP format.
When exporting in DXF, Surfer asks, how drawing coordinates should be transformed into the corresponding x-coordinates.
In order to maintain the proper scale and location,
Surfer's internal coordinates have to be used, i.e. those, which are indicated
on the axes. However, as labels on the axes are beyond this space, labels
must be suppressed. The axes theirselves need to be shown, as otherwise
there would be no clear definition of boundaries.
